From M-Leaders, re: the elimination of some AMC positions:
"Eliminating the Past and Past Past Chairman have been on the tips of the tongues of members for a long time, as have eliminating one or more appointed offices (even several MERF board members have indicated that a MERF rep does not belong as a voting member of the AMC).
One way to keep a decent sized ExComm as well as eliminate the 2nd (and 1st, to some extent) Vice as a "placeholder" office, as well as cut down on the appointed officers would be to give the 2nd Vice and 1st Vice some actual duties that are now assigned to appointed officers...like Membership and Communication - and then get rid of those appointed, voting officers. It seems reasonable to me that anyone who is considering someday moving up to Chairman should probably have the experience of a deep dive in one or both of these areas."
